Today is schooling

Had a great day at work, I am being pushed more into a management position and less of a technician. I am okay with this but tonight I am furthering my education as a referee. As a part time fun job I referee youth soccer. I have done everything younger then 19. I referee with my family, my brother and dad are also referees. It is great to go out and be active and support kids being active. And hey the money is not bad. I am also selling girls scout cookies for my girls.

Don't forget in the end I am still and knitting mama!

Hairpin custom shawl

Today I am embarking on a new venture. Hairpin lace. I am making an ameboid-like shawl utilizing hairpin circles of various sizes into a unique pattern. I am using alpaca lace from knit picks. I am happy to say I have already calculated my circles and even did a gauge swatch.

20 stitches over 3 inches.
So a 3 inch circle requires 48 stitches. Pi r squared - oh how I love math.
My 4 inch circles will require 84 hairpin stitches.
My 2 inch circles will require 21 hairpin stitches.
